The Second Practicum

The commons was in the center of the building. It had been set up with wine, beer, finger foods and miniature desserts. All five of them were silent as they gathered what they wanted and sat at a nearby table. Once they were seated, Brian spoke up. “Well, that was different.”

There was nervous laughter all around as the girls glanced at him coyly. The group quietly consumed their refreshments, each mulling over what had just happened.

The headmaster’s chuckle was low and lighthearted. It pleased Brian to hear it. “Fair enough. I see great potential in you, but you will need to trust our guidance and be true to your instincts. Don’t try to be or do something that doesn’t come naturally. Be authentic and you will help the process go much faster. Do you understand?”
